If rent control is passed in Prince George's County...

The condition of existing housing will deteriorate driving down property values

Significantly less housing and amenities, such as high-end restaurants and retail, will be built in the County

Economic development and job creation will be severely reduced

Less funding for education and public safety

But there are better alternatives for addressing housing affordability

Invest funds that would be used to administer rent control into affordable housing and rental assistance

Streamline the regulatory and permitting processes to reduce the costs of new development

Create a friendlier business environment to attract good paying jobs
